The Downright Psychotic – Met Ball Red Carpet 2013

That traditional Red Carpet Glamour is DEAD!

This year’s Met Ball Red Carpet displayed the most ATROCIOUS dresses/outfits/peices of cloth I have ever seen.

Where is the elegance; the regality; the class? I can rant on the rubbish being displayed for a while but you should See for yourself…

IMG_1230

Crackhead much?

IMG_1229

Please fire your stylist…this is some Snow White on a rainy London day thing!

IMG_1228

Nicki Minaj – No comments – why would she get an invite to such a massive fashion event anyways?

IMG_1223

Pregnancy has not been kind to Kim K especially with that 1950′s sofa print dress… and the thigh high slit??

IMG_1226

Would you let your daughter out of the house like that? I’m sorry, this is pathetic…and she’s meant to be a role model for young girls?

IMG_1225

Even a supermodel can’t pull this dress off…and what’s with the drag queen brows Linda?

IMG_1215

I have yet to find her dressed decently…a genuine smile here and there could do wonders for an outfit as well…Just not for this one!

IMG_1217

I just didn’t understand any of this…the hair is a No No and the dress just sucks

IMG_1218

I’m sorry, did she find her outfit (if it can be called that) from the garbage bins?

IMG_1212

Not the usual Anne Hathaway – disappointed. I liked her simple and sweet better.

IMG_1211

I’m never impressed with her style…and this is no exception

Defintely not figure flattering. Beyonce can do much better

Make Up Tutorial: Kim Kardashian

I’m quite a big fan of Pixi2woo on Youtube, as I find her make up tutorials amazingly easy to follow and always with an excellent finish!

The following is a Kim Kardashian look which i really liked for its simplicity in terms of nothing over the top, yet can be done for formal or informal occassions.

I tried the look on myself, but minus the false lashes and with slightly different products. One is always welcome to change things up to give it their own touch! All in all, I quite liked it and would probably do it a bit more pronounced like in the video if going out properly!

I hacked it…

Anyone that’s had long hair for a while, will probably agree with me that we get broody after a while and have the urge to just chop it. Well I did :) And to be honest I dont feel sad about it, although I thought I would be!

My rationale was, although at the moment I have long lucious hair due to pregnancy hormones, post-delivery it’s going to start falling like there’s no tomorrow. Plus, shorter hair is quickier and easier to manage with a little cub :)

So, the Before

IMG_0205  IMG_0101 IMG_0319

Now for the AFTER

IMG_0002 IMG_0655

When I put it this way…it does seem slightly tragic, however, now it’s an excuse to try out different ways to play!

The general idea was to go for something simple, easy to manage yet still look like I havent given up on myself as well as avoid the inverted bob or anything like too much out there. So then I had a wander on Pinterest for Long Bobs and settled on a mixture of the following inspirations…

IMG_1140IMG_1139IMG_1138

Ideally, in a few months, the idea is to have Kate Beckinsale’s look (middle) of a casual long bob which means it can grow out nicely.

The following is something I found interesting for anyone looking to make big changes i.e. whether that be to grow hair out or to cut it to a particular length. Consider it a little stage by stage guide :)

Fourth Wedding Anniversary

It was not very long ago that I wrote about our Third Anniversay! 11th March 2013 marked our fourth and this time I had a little bun in the oven joining the festivities, at 6 months pregnant with our first.

Tauseef wore a tailor made Italian Wool suit and I wore a midi black fitted dress with a BCBG Maxazria cardigan and Burberry Trench.

Marrying a Doctor means compromising hours, and since Tauseef was on call on the 11th, we went out to dinner on Sunday the 10th. Venue this year; the very exclusive and Michellin Star Restaurant Hakkasan Hanway Place, the original of the group designed by Christian Liaigre and headed by Chef Tong Chee Hwee. My Recommendation, the Dim Sum platter is divine! Dessert was on the house, delicious creamy ice cream surrounded by a chocolate chip wafer.

The ambiance of the restaurant is phenomenal, with waiters/waitresses discreetly always close by and helpful with selection. Expensive, but in my opinion totally worth it for particular occassions!

Products to Live By

There are some products that you discover, which just make your life so much easier.

Mine, are as follows:

1. Dermalogica – Overnight Clearing Gel

IMG_0458 (1) If you are one of those people that have tried every thing known to man for acne, this is it, well almost! I dont suffer for any major acne, but I noticed during my pregnanct that I was getting more and more prone to clusters of breakouts on my cheeks and chin. I tried everything from natural home remedies to the washes and finally decided that I needed to spend a little more to get results. It’s a bit pricey at £34.00 (gorgeousshop.co.uk) (a bit more if you buy retail), but its well worth the money. I used it twice a day, in the morning before applying moisturizer and in the evening right before going to bed. It has worked absolute wonders in about a month and a half’s time. If you have really severe acne, try this along with the corresponding face wash, but if it doesnt help, there is always medication (oxytetracycline) which not many are aware of! It’s a 3 month antibiotic course which will drastically clear even the most severe acne however it does have it’s side effects therefore only for the worst case scenarios!

2. Sally Hansen Insta Dry Anti-Chip Top Coat

IMG_0461 (1)It would be a rarity that I be seen without my nails done, whether it’s gels, acrylics or just polish on my natural nails. However, I absolutely dread waiting for nails to dry and becuase of my impatience, sometimes never bother with top coat…until this beauty that is!! This is the mother of all nail products! Top Coat which is safe to touch within 2 minutes, and I literally mean, I can go and wash dishes without ruining the nails! This will come most handy post pregnancy :)

I even take it to my nail salon!

3. Maybelline Super Stay 14 Hour Lipstick

IMG_0471 (1)I just bought this a few days ago in Coral and Plum, and love it. It’s a pain to top up lipstick, especially if they are bold colours, at work and this has so far proven super effective. I love the plum, as it’s not too bold, but actually quite natural making it perfect for the office. It stays on for ages, and in fact, it looks better after a few hours of wear I would say. They of course have an array of colours but I decided to experiment with some wilder (yet still lovely to wear) colours!

4. Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

IMG_0448 (1) IMG_0451 (1)

Hands down the best neutral earthy palette around especially if you’re in a hurry. I don’t really wear anything on the eyes on a day to day basis, however sometimes, especially for the office, I can just pop on a single colour on the lid and be on my way :) Amazingly pigmented and the shimmer isn’t ostentatious or in your face. Worth the pretty penny that it costs! The brush that comes with it is also super high quality and not the tacky spongey applicators which will never do you any good!

Golden Globes 2013

With the Golden Globes not too long ago, I wasn’t all that impressed with the red carpet dresses, however a few did stand out from the rest!

My Favourite for the evening was Anne Hathaway in Chanel. Simple, elegant and very classy.

Some of the Other Best Dressed for the evening in my opinion were Emily Blunt in Michael Kors, Lucy Lu in Carolina Herrera and Amanda Seyfried in Givenchy

Worst of the night? Halle Berry in Versace was an absolute tacky disaster! What she was thinking I do not know!

20130127-154939.jpg

I felt a bit of Deja Vu with Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad, which I found very distasteful by the way. Reminded me of Beyonce’s 2012 Met Gala Dress where she wore a similar Givency number. See it for yourself!

Dress Diary: Eid Dinner 20 Jan 2013

Traditional eastern dress designed by my aunt. The material is a soft and silky mix between chiffon and velvet which moves really nicely. This flowy and loose type of dress is very much in all around but also makes for great formalish maternity wear.

Make up & Hair. Kept is slightly vintage with pinned up loose side bun, stretched liner and red lips.

Wedding Mania

If you’ve ever been to a Pakistani wedding, you know it’s like a festival especially when it’s in the family and you’re a part of it! I recently went to Pakistan for a wedding and thought it’s definitely something I want to share! Bright colours, loud music, lots of jewels and non-stop celebration!!!

It’s quite customary that the groom and his family design and prepare all the bridal clothes for the wedding and second reception along with the gold jewellery as well an entire wardrobe of clothes, shoes and make up for the bride. Like-wise, the bride and family prepare all the grooms clothing and wardrobe etc. Below, the first photo is of all the bride’s things packed and ready to be delivered by some of the family members and the second photo is of the bride’s packed wedding dress. If I went into all the little bits and bobs and each tradition, it would take me a lifetime…

The first big event is called the Mehndi. It’s quite a colourful and vibrant event with a lot of dancing and little rituals. :) The first photo is of the venue, a beautiful country club (outdoor) and the theme was Peacock :) The second photo, is of all the brothers and closest cousins and men, along with the sister of the groom. Their clothes are all designed by the groom’s family. Photo three is the bride and groom on the stage. Photo four is the dancing and Photo 5 is myself with the groom.

The next event, is the main wedding. The bride is escorted by her family for the last time and at the end of the evening, there is a little ceremony where the family of the bride give her away officially and the groom takes her home. Photo 1 is the bride joining the groom on stage. Photo 2 is myself with the grooms father, who in specific relation is my grandmother’s brother, however he is my Granddad and very near and dear. Photo 3 I threw in for fun, myself and hubby on the wedding day. Just fyi, the dress I’m wearing was what I wore to my own second reception. It was designed together by my mum and her sister down to the last bead-work.

The last major event is called the Valima. It’s when the bride and groom host a massive dinner as a couple. Photo 1 is of the venue, absolutely stunning and hand-picked by my Granddad. His taster is always the finest :) Photo 2 is of myself, husband, and the bride, whose name by the way is also Fatima. The third photo I though I throw in for fun as well, myself with my aunt (the designer) and my grandmother.
